News Updates 1/07/06 Former Knoxville Mayor Victor Ashe Makes $200,000 donation to the Gardens The Establishment Click Here for Driving Directions to Our Location In June 2001 a group of interested Knoxvillians formed a not-for-profit corporation for the purpose of creating a botanical garden and arboretum on the 44-acre site of a 200-year old nursery in Knoxville, Tennessee. The site is located in East Knoxville on the former property of the Joe N. Howell Nursery and the C.B. Howell Nursery. The Knoxville Botanical Gardens and Arboretum sits on a ridge-top 5 minutes from downtown Knoxville surrounded by an urban community. The land was the site for a family nursery business originally established in 1786 and represents a significant cultural landscape in Knoxville's history. The Knoxville Botanical Gardens and Arboretum is open to the public. Admission is free to tour the Gardens.
